Next on the list is Iran. The messaging app is not available in the country due to political unrest. The Iranian president had blamed the online platform and other social media apps for stoking protests in the country.
The instant messaging app is banned also banned in North Korea. It’s no surprise that North Koreans are forbidden from engaging in social communications across the world due to the strict rules of the government.
WhatsApp calls and video calls are banned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to strict VoIP regulations. This is because end-to-end encryption is a stumbling block to the government’s desire to monitor internet calls.
The Telecommunications Regulation Authority (TRA) in Oman has blocked all VoIP services, including Skype, WhatsApp, and Telegram, like UAE.
Apps like WhatsApp are banned in Syria for mostly political reasons.
