The annual Demographia International Housing Affordability Report (2024) shows which cities are most affordable among 94 major metropolitan areas in eight countries – Australia, Canada, China, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States. 

10. Louisville, Kentucky (United States)

Located on the banks of the Ohio River, Louisville is one of the largest cities in Kentucky. It is also home to Churchill Downs, a race course which hosts the renowned Kentucky Derby.

9. Cincinnati, Ohio (United States)

A little over an hour away from Louisville, Cincinnati is also located along the Ohio River in the southwestern part of the US state.

8. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (United States)

The state capital of Oklahoma, one of the most affordable cities in the world, is also the largest city in the American state.

7. Detroit, Michigan (United States)

Known as the automobile capital of the world, the American city is also considered a significant cultural centre and offers its residents many opportunities and experiences.

6. Buffalo, New York (United States)

Home to a vibrant art scene and a resurgent waterfront the city is half an hour away from Niagara Falls and Buffalo is famous for its exemplary architecture.

5. Edmonton, Alberta (Canada)

The provincial capital is also one of the most affordable cities in the world and the only one on this list outside that is not in the US. Located on the North Saskatchewan River, Edmonton is known for its excellent quality of life and low crime rate compared to other Canadian cities.

4. Cleveland, Ohio (United States)

Also known as the “The Forest City,” Cleveland is the second most populous city in Ohio and managed to secure the fourth spot on the list of the most affordable cities in the world.
