Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 295 will be held on Nov 12 and the main event is the Light Heavyweight title clash between Alex Pereira (Brazil) and Jiri Procházka (Czechia).
Pereira has ten fights in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) so far with eight wins and two losses. Procházka, on the other hand, is more experienced in MMA with 33 fights, which include 29 wins, three losses, and one draw.
Both fighters are elite strikers in the world of combat sports. Even though Procházka presents a knockout threat, Pereira would be a difficult opponent for him as the Brazilian is a kickboxing veteran and held the Middleweight and Light Heavyweight titles in Glory before he switched to MMA. Pereira is also the former UFC Middleweight champion.
Pereira has a significant striking accuracy of 62%, while Procházka's rate is 55%. However, the Czech has a slightly better figure of significant strikes landed per minute at 5.77 compared to Pereira who is at 5.11.
Both fighters are elite strikes and rarely grapple or wrestle. But Procházka has an edge given his greater experience in MMA and he was the previous UFC Light Heavyweight champion after defeating Brazil’s Glover Teixeira by submission.
It’s a difficult contest for sure and both fighters will likely stay on their feet. Procházka has more MMA experience and presents a greater knockout and grappling threat. But Pereira quickly earned a name for himself in the UFC, and his devastating left hook and unusual low kicks would be extremely challenging for the Czech. Prediction: Pereira wins by knockout or Procházka wins by submission.
