Bill Nye 'the Science Guy' says no.
"We can't even take care of this planet where we live," said Nye, "and we're perfectly suited for it, let alone another planet."
Bill said that Humans aren't living in Antarctica, and remarked "nobody's gonna go settle on Mars to raise a family and have generations of Martians."
On Mars, temperatures can reach up to 70°F (20°C) in some places, but most of the time the planet is much colder, and well below zero degrees.
"There is hardly any water," said the scientist.
Food can be grown on Mars but as per Dr Christopher Guppy, Associate Professor in Soil Fertility, "without the protective influence of a thick atmosphere, the radiation from the sun would mutate and damage the crops if grown on the surface".
Oxygen is lacking "And the big thing, I just remind these guys," said Nye, "There's nothing to breathe."
The barren planet is known for its dust storms that can last for weeks or months. They can alter the temperatures drastically.
Earth's atmosphere provides a natural shield against cosmic radiation. In contrast, Mars has a much thinner atmosphere.
Mars lacks strong gravity something we take for granted on Earth. In the long run it might adversely effect our bodies.
As per Pascal Lee, a planetary scientist at NASA's Ames Research Center, "If you are unprotected on Mars … your blood would boil, even at ambient temperature."
