Drinking water is essential for your body, but everything must be done in moderation. Drinking excess water can lead to water intoxication that impacts your body adversely.

Drinking too much water causes cells in the body to swell up. This can lead to headaches, drowsiness, nausea, etc. In more severe cases, water intoxication can also lead to hypertension and bradycardia (low heart rate).

It is essential to pay attention to the signs of your body and drink water in moderation. Here are a few tips to prevent water poisoning.

1. Drink water when you are thirsty. Don't force yourself to have water just because you feel you haven't had sufficient amounts of it today.

2. When working out, make sure to maintain an electrolyte balance in your body by drinking beverages other than water.

3. The colour of your urine is the best way to decide how much water your body needs. A dark yellow-coloured urine means your body is dehydrated and needs water.

No one can understand your body better than you. So, it's best if you pay attention to the signs it is giving to prevent yourself from this fatal condition.
