Climate change is contributing to more frequent and severe heat waves during the summer months.

Heatwaves cause higher rates of heat syncope, which is a fainting (syncope) episode or dizziness.

It is a condition that usually occurs after standing for too long or suddenly standing up after sitting or lying.

Doctors advise that if one experiences heat syncope, she/he must be moved to a shaded/cool area.

They must sit/lay over the back with their legs raised.

Plenty of fluids with electrolytes must be given slowly over a period of time.
