Beware Of These 5 Misleading Labels On Food Products

No Cholesterol

Cholesterol is found only in animal products. A 'no cholesterol' label on a plant product like vegetable oil is to state the obvious. It is supposed to be no cholesterol anyway.

Made With Real Fruit

The ingredients are often listed in order of weight. After the first four, nothing really counts as much, real or unreal.

Lightly Sweet

This means that the product has very little sugar. 'Sugar-Free' products often contain less than 0.5 grams of sugar.

Keto

Ketogenic food contains little or no carbs. Cereals or cooking that are labelled 'Keto' are often ultra-processed.

Gluten-Free

Unless you have celiac disease, gluten-free versions of bread or pasta can be a less healthy choice. Beware! They may be low in fibre than whole-grain products.
