Yoga can be an effective way to alleviate constipation and bloating by stimulating digestion, relieving tension in the abdomen, and improving gut health. Here are five easy yoga asanas (poses) that may help:
Lie on your back, arms outstretched in a T-position. Hug knees to chest, exhale, drop knees right, shoulders grounded. Turn your head left, hold twist for 30 sec to 1 minute, then switch sides.
Start in tabletop position, wrists under shoulders, knees under hips. Inhale, arch back for Cow Pose, exhale, round back for Cat Pose. Flow between poses syncing with breath for multiple rounds.
Sit with your legs extended and your spine tall. Inhale and lengthen the spine, exhale, and hinge at the hips to fold forward. Hold onto your shins, ankles, or feet, relax your neck and shoulders and breathe deeply. Hold for 30 sec to 1 min, then release.
Kneel with big toes together and knees hip-width apart. Sit back on heels, arms extended forward and lower forehead to the mat. Rest arms alongside the body, palms up, breathe deeply, hold for 1-3 min, and relax.
Lie flat on your back with your legs extended and arms by your sides. Bend your knees and bring them towards your chest clasp your hands around your knees and gently hug them towards your abdomen. Hold the pose for 15-30 seconds while taking deep breaths.
