World's Best Dish 2023: Indian Bread Among 10 Finalists

Every year TasteAtlas announces World Food Awards. Best Dish in the World is one of the categories in these awards. For this year's title, a total of 10 dishes have been shortlisted, including one of India's favourites.
Butter garlic naan is a traditional Indian flatbread and one of the most popular versions of naan. It’s made with flour, yeast, salt, sugar, and yoghurt. It is best tasted with Indian curries like butter chicken, shahi paneer or dal makhani.
The pan-fried variety of the Chinese jiaozi dumpling, known as guotie, is a Northern Chinese dumpling typically filled with minced pork, Chinese cabbage, scallions, ginger, rice wine, and sesame seed oil.
A signature dish of Northern Thailand, khao soi is a delicious coconut soup in which numerous flavours are combined to create a spectacular dish. The base of the soup is a slightly spicy broth which combines coconut milk and red curry paste.
Phanaeng curry is a variety of Thai curry that is characterised by a thick texture and salty-sweet peanut flavour. It consists of meat (beef, chicken or pork) that is stewed with coconut milk, panang curry paste, makrut lime leaves, fish sauce, and palm sugar.
This traditional Thai stir-fry combines minced meat or seafood with holy basil and various other ingredients such as shallots, garlic, and chili peppers. The dish is flavoured with soy sauce, sugar, and fish sauce.
Picanha is a fresh cut of beef that's especially popular in Brazil. In the US, it's called the sirloin cap, and in the UK, it's known as the rump cap. Picanha is situated on the back side of the animal, above the butt.
It is made with just a few simple ingredients and is prepared as marinara with basic Neapolitan pizza topped with a tomato-based sauce flavoured with garlic and oregano, and Margherita, which is topped with tomatoes, mozzarella, and fresh basil leaves.
Roti canai is a traditional pan-fried flatbread made with flour, water, eggs, and fat of Indian origin, but mainly associated with Malaysia, and surrounding countries like Indonesia, Brunei, and Thailand.
Shashlik is the name for a traditional Central and West Asian barbecue consisting of marinated, skewered, and grilled chunks of meat such as lamb, beef, or pork, depending on regional and religious preferences.
The name tangbao or tangbaozi refers to a broad group of steamed Chinese soup-filled dumplings. Dumplings are usually made with leavened or plain dumpling dough which is wrapped around a gelatinous filling, twisted and sealed at the top, and then steamed.
