Podi Idli is an easy and healthy South Indian delicacy that should be your go-to dish.

This staple dish in South Indian homes mainly consists of small and fluffy idlis that are tossed in the spicy ground lentil chutney powder known as ‘podi’ with a drizzle of ghee.

 What is Podi?

Podi is a spice powder and the key tastemaker in this dish. It is made from lentils, nuts, seeds, and dried chillies. If you can’t make this powder at home, it’s easily available in the market.

Preparing Idli Podi

The process of making the idlis is the same. However, for this dish, small idlis are preferred. Or, you can make regular-sized idlis and cut them into smaller pieces.

Let the hot idlis cool at room temperature for some time.

In a pan, heat some ghee. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves, then pour in all the idlis and sauté for a few minutes. Add podi powder according to your taste and mix well.

Garnish your dish with coriander leaves and serve.
