Ghewar, a traditional Indian sweet, is often associated with festivals like Teej and Raksha Bandhan. Although it might appear difficult to make this delectable dessert at home, you can easily make a delicious Ghewar at home with just five basic ingredients.
All-purpose flour (maida), Ghee, Milk, Sugar and Water
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and ghee. Gradually add milk and water, whisking continuously to form a smooth, lump-free batter.
In a deep, heavy-bottomed pan, heat a generous amount of ghee until it is hot.
Using a ladle, pour the batter in a thin stream into the hot ghee from a height. The batter will spread and form a lace-like pattern. Continue pouring until the desired thickness is achieved.
Let the Ghewar cook on medium heat until it turns golden brown. Carefully remove it from the pan and place it on a paper towel to drain excess ghee.
In a separate pan, dissolve sugar in water and bring it to a boil to make a thick syrup. Pour the syrup over the Ghewar while it is still warm, ensuring it is evenly coated. Let it cool before serving.
