If you love Korean-style kimchi but can’t seem to get it done perfectly, here are some tips you can follow to make it home.

Pack Tightly

Pack the ingredients of your kimchi in the container tightly to ensure the ideal environment required for fermentation. This develops its unique tangy flavour.

Choose Right Container

Be sure to use a non-metallic container to ferment the kimchi to prevent any chemical reaction. You can use a glass or ceramic container after cleaning it thoroughly.

Make a Flavourful Dressing

Include cabbage leaves, Korean red pepper flakes, gochujang, garlic, ginger, fish sauce or soy sauce in your kimchi paste to enhance the flavour.

Maintain Right Temperature

Maintain a consistent temperature to ensure your kimchi ferments in the right manner. Too hot or too cold temperatures can lead to rapid or inadequate fermentation.

Add Seasonal Vegetables

Prepare the kimchi using seasonal vegetables as they are fresh and can bring out the right flavours. They also come with essential nutrients you need for the season.

Ensure the Right Amount of Salt

Be mindful while adding salt to your kimchi. While it is needed in the process of fermentation, excessive salt can spoil the kimchi and become bad for health.
