To check whether the ghee you just bought is unadulterated or not, try these 5 simple methods.

Palm test

Take a spoonful of ghee in your palm and massage it lightly. If it instantly melts on your hand then it's 100 % real and unadulterated ghee.

Heat test

In a small pan, heat a tablespoon of ghee. If the ghee melts instantly and turns into a light brown colour, it is pure A2 Gir cow ghee. If it turns yellow, it is adulterated.

Bottle test

In a glass bottle or container, add one tablespoon of ghee along with some salt and shake well. After five minutes, look for a tiny red dot on the bottom of the container. If your ghee has not been contaminated with vegetable oil, the red spot won't appear.

Double boiler method

To check whether your ghee has been contaminated with coconut oil or not, place one tablespoon of melted ghee in a glass container and refrigerate for 5-10 minutes. If it freezes in two layers, it has coconut oil.

Health benefits

Add a few drops of iodine in a tablespoon of ghee. If the solution turns purple, your ghee is contaminated with starch. If it does not, it is pure and unadulterated.
