Gujarati rice rotla is an Indian flatbread that pairs well with a variety of side dishes. It is made using rice flour and whole wheat. Try this simple five-step recipe.

 

Prepare the Dough

Combine whole wheat flour, rice flour and a small amount of salt. Add water gradually and knead the dough until it becomes smooth.

Divide and Shape

Divide the dough into small balls and flatten each into a thin disc.

Heat the Pan

Preheat a tawa or non-stick pan on medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.

Cook

Place the dough disc on the hot pan. Cook until bubbles form, then flip and cook until golden brown.

Serve

Remove the rotla from the pan and serve warm with your favourite curry, chutney, or yoghurt.
