Hindi is widely understood and spoken, particularly in the Terai region bordering India, although the official language is Nepali.

Mauritius

Hindi is one of the languages spoken by the Indo-Mauritian population, many of whom are descendants of Indian indentured labourers.

Fiji

Hindi, specifically "Fiji Hindi," is spoken by the Indo-Fijian community, who are descendants of Indian labourers.

Trinidad and Tobago

Hindi is understood, especially in the Indo-Trinidadian community, though English and Trinidadian Creole dominate.

Guyana

Similar to Trinidad, the Indo-Guyanese population speaks Hindi (particularly among older generations) alongside English.

Suriname

Sarnami Hindi, a variant of Bhojpuri and Awadhi languages, is spoken by the descendants of Indian immigrants.

South Africa
