What is Green Tea? 

It is a beverage brewed from leaves of Camellia Sinensis, which has been around for thousands of years in China and Japan for medicinal properties, and other herbs. It gained popularity for its ability to help increase alertness, promote weight loss and alleviate headaches and digestive issues. 

May support weight loss 

As per experts, green tea contains compounds like caffeine and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which boosts metabolism and breaks down fat cells. 

Helps protect the heart 

Green tea contains catechins, a type of flavonoid with potent antioxidant that helps to reduce the formation of plaques in the arteries, lowers LDL, and bad cholesterol level and improves blood lipid profiles. 

Could lower blood sugar in type 2 diabetes 

According to a study published in the Iranian Journal of Medical Sciences in 2014, a healthy type 2 diabetes diet, green tea might help to reduce insulin resistance. In the study, participants who consumed 150ml of green tea thrice a day showed positive results. 

May help reduce anxiety 

Having a cup of green tea might help you reduce the symptoms of anxiety-related disorders. According to a review published in 2017 in Phytomedicine Cits, research suggests that caffeine and the amino acid L-theanine work together to lower anxiety and also influence other brain functions.
