India will celebrate its 75th Republic Day with pomp and show at New Delhi's Kartavya Path. On this day in 1950, India adopted its constitution and became a sovereign state in the true sense.
This year's Republic Day themes are- 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) and 'Bharat- Loktanra ki Matruka' (Bharat - The Mother of Democracy).
The Republic Day parade will commence at 10:30 am and run for a duration of approx. 90 minutes. The ceremony will start with the visit of PM Narendra Modi to the National War Memorial, where he will lay a wreath and pay tribute to the fallen heroes.
The parade will start from Vijay Chowk and pass via Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhas Marg before culminating at the Red Fort.
French President Emmanuel Macron will be the Chief Guest at the parade, which is set to showcase India’s rich cultural diversity, and its military prowess on the back of increasing indigenous capabilities.
For the first time, the French contingent will participate in the Republic Day parade. Apart from that, the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, Delhi Police and CAPF contingents will also march down Kartavya Path.
