Project Udbhav, launched by the Indian Army, aims to integrate ancient Indian strategic wisdom into modern military practices. This initiative has been started in collaboration with the United Service Institution of India.
The project will focus on exploring ancient texts like the Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads and Arthashastra, alongside the strategic insights from the Mahabharata and historical military figures from the Maurya, Gupta and Maratha periods.
The project involves in-depth research, workshops and leadership seminars to blend ancient and modern military strategies.
The project will highlight ethical conduct, strategic partnerships, and statecraft principles from texts like Chanakya's Arthashastra and Thirukkural, aligning these with contemporary military practices such as international cooperation and soft power projection.
Additionally, Project Udbhav promotes civil-military collaboration, encouraging contributions from academia, scholars and military experts to enrich the nation's strategic outlook.
The initiative also includes the creation of the 'Udbhav Compendium', which documents the findings and aims to make the Indian Armed Forces future-ready by drawing on the country's historical military wisdom.
