India's second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri died on 11 January 1966 in Tashkent. He gave the iconic slogan- 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' (Hail Soldier, Hail Farmer). During his tenure as PM, India went to war with Pakistan in 1965, after which the Tashkent Declaration was signed between the two countries.
