The award is a worldwide whisky competition, hosted annually by the Whiskies of the World team. Each year, a variety of whiskies are judged on a 100-point basis with a concentration on aromatics and flavour. Here are some of those best whiskies.
India's local brand, Indri Whisky has been awarded 'Double Gold Best In Show.' The team describes Indri as "a symphony of flavours" as it has "ascended to the pinnacle of recognition" with this significant award.
Indri Whisky is a product of Piccadily Distilleries located in Haryana. It was introduced in the Indian market in 2021 with the introduction of Indri-Trini, India’s first triple-barrel single malt. Indri Whisky is a peated single malt whisky, with a smoky flavour.
Currently, Indri-Trini is available in 19 Indian states and 17 other countries. The world’s No.1 whisky will be available in the US and some European countries from November 2023.
Commenting on the Indri Whisky’s achievement, Siddhartha Sharma, founder, Piccadily Distilleries, said, “The perception of India is changing globally. India and Indians are breaking boundaries on all fronts be it technology, business, sport or crafted high-quality premium products."
Other best whiskies of 2023 listed in the Best-in-Class category are - Balcones Texas 1 Single Malt, E.H Taylor Single Barrel, Eagle Rare 10 Year Old, and Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon among many others.
