Pre-launch tests were conducted at the UR Rao Satellite Centre, Bengaluru.

The spacecraft successfully completed the essential tests that validated its capability to withstand the harsh vibration and acoustic environment that the spacecraft would face during its launch.

Another major milestone

These tests were particularly challenging, considering the fact that the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is a composite of three modules viz. Propulsion Module, Lander Module and the Rover module.

Chandrayaan-3 is all set to launch in Jun-Jul 2023

ISRO Chairman Dr Somanath has stated all important tests of Chandrayaan-3 are complete and only minor final tests are pending & everything is on track for its launch in June-end.

Vibration and acoustic tests

These tests have provided sufficient confidence in the structural integrity and survivability in the launch environment, ISRO said.

Chandrayaan-3 will be a mission repeat of Chandrayaan-2 but will only include a lander and rover similar to that of Chandrayaan-2.

Chandrayaan-2: A quick recap

It consisted of an Orbiter, Lander and Rover, all equipped with scientific instruments to study the moon.

ISRO had named the Lander module Vikram, after Vikram Sarabhai, the pioneer of India’s space programme, and the Rover module as Pragyaan, meaning wisdom.
