Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar was born on December 26, 1955, in Khed Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India.
He was initially part of the Mumbai-based criminal gang, D-Company, led by Karim Lala. Later, he established his own criminal empire.
Dawood was allegedly involved in match-fixing scandals in the late 1990s.
He is known to use multiple aliases and is believed to have acquired several fake passports.
Dawood Ibrahim reportedly had connections with the Bollywood film industry, with some filmmakers and actors alleged to have been associated with him.
In 1993, the Indian government declared him the mastermind behind the Mumbai attacks, during which 12 coordinated bombs were detonated across the city, killing 257 people. He also had ties to Al-Qaeda.
Dawood fled from India to Dubai in 1986 after being wanted by the Mumbai Police for the murder of Samad Khan, a rival.
Aside from criminal activities, Dawood has been linked to legitimate businesses, including real estate and hospitality.
