Dassault Rafale

A 4.5 generation aircraft, Rafale is one of the prized possessions in the Indian Air Force's arsenal at the moment. India currently has 36 of these jets after IAF completed the procurement process last year.

LCA Tejas

The Multi-role supersonic fighter jet has been developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Its Mark-II version is expected to be the more advanced version of the base fighter jet.

MiG-21

MiG-21 is one of the oldest fighter jets still working for the IAF. According to reports, the Mikoyan-Gurevich-designed jet is expected to be phased out by 2025

Mirage-2000

Mirage-2000 is the old workhorse of IAF upon which the force has been relying for the last 20 years. It was made by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) under a licence from Dassault Aviation.

MiG-29

The Russian-origin aircraft played an important role as the Indian Air Force stamped its supremacy over the Pakistani force during the Kargil War of 1999.

4. Vajont Dam Disaster (Italy, 1963)

A massive landslide triggered by construction activities and geological instability caused the collapse of the Vajont Dam. A massive wave of water overtopped the dam and caused a devastating flood. Approximately 2,000 people lost their lives.
