Studio MAPPA has officially cancelled production on the Yuri!!! on Ice film.

Yuri!!! on Ice was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2017, as the original anime series not only introduced new fans to Studio MAPPA's works but also provided a fresh perspective on the world of figure skating.

It was such a success that a sequel, Yuri!!! on Ice: Ice Adolescence, was revealed to be in the works for a potential 2019 release.

However, after the first announcement, there have been multiple delays and few updates.

Despite updates since 2017 presumably suggesting that the film could come out eventually, Studio MAPPA has officially stated that production on the film has been canceled owing to "various circumstances."
