On World Menstrual Hygiene Day, here's busting a few widely commo myths around periods.

Myth: Any form of physical activity disturbs menstrual flow

Fact: In reality, exercise can help alleviate the signs of premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea and also ease out bloating. Exercise also leads to the release of serotonin which helps in making you feel happier.

Myth: You shouldn't wash your hair during your period

Fact: It's perfectly fine to wash your hair and take a shower. A warm bath helps in easing period cramps. 

Myth: Foods such as curd, tamarind, etc must be avoided during menstruation

Many people believe that eating curd, pickles, etc. will stop the flow of blood during the period. This is incorrect, any form of food does not affect your periods. 

Myth: It hurts to wear a menstrual cup

Fact: There are countless safe techniques for wearing menstrual cups and once worn, it is comfortable

Myth: Period panties need to be worn with a pad

Fact: Period panties have multiple layers of absorbent fabric that keeps moisture away and prevents leaks, allowing it to be worn as is.
