Use a sharp knife to carefully slice off the top part of the pomegranate. Then make 4-6 shallow cuts, following the natural ridges of the fruit. This will divide your pomegranate into sections.
Before de-seeding, submerge it in water to prevent juice splatters. Using your hands, carefully break the pomegranate apart and gently remove any bits of pith that may be floating.
Use the back of your knife to hit the pomegranate. The seeds will drop into the bowl of water and will separate easily from the white pith.
Once you have removed all the seeds, use a fine mesh sieve to separate the seeds from the water.
Since the sand on Sea Glass Beach in Vieques is loaded with lovely crystals, artists and collectors will like the location.
