International Coffee Day: 10 Countries With Highest Coffee Consumption 

Coffee is the second-most consumed beverage in the world. Marking International Coffee Day, we have compiled a list of the 10 countries with the highest coffee consumption per person. 

1. Finland (12 kg per capita) 

Finland tops the list! This caffeinated drink is an integral part of Finn’s culture. 

2. Norway (9.9 kg per capita) 

Did you know over 80 per cent of Norwegians drink 4-5 cups of coffee on a daily basis? 

3. Iceland (9 kg per capita) 

Icelanders come in third on the list, and coffee drinks like espresso, cappuccino, and latte are most famous here. 

4. Denmark (8.7 kg per capita) 

Coffee is the most essential part of Denmark’s social culture. 

5. Netherlands  (8.4 kg per capita) 

With an average consumption of 2 cups of coffee per day, the Netherlands comes in fifth. 

6. Sweden (8.1 kg per capita) 

Did you know Swedes have a word for a coffee break? Yes, it’s Fika, translated as ‘a coffee and cake break’.  

7. Switzerland  (7.9 kg per capita) 

Coffee is an essential part of Swiss people’s daily lives, and instead of filtered coffee, they prefer coffee crema, espresso, and French press more. 

8. Belgium (6.8 kg per capita) 

The pod-based and classic Americano is the most preferred coffee drink in Belgium. 

9. Luxembourg  (6.5 kg per capita) 

Despite being one of the world’s smallest countries, Luxembourg is the ninth country with the highest coffee consumption. 

10. Canada (6.5 kg per capita) 

Canada is the only non-European country among the 10 countries with the highest coffee consumption.
