Oral sunscreens are dietary supplements which contain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that may boost the skin's resilience to sun damage.

However, it cannot replace topical sunscreen when it comes to protecting your skin from harsh sun rays.

Oral sunscreens only act as an internal defence system. They must be used with topical sunscreen for maximum protection from harmful UV rays.

Oral sunscreens contain Polypodium leucotomos, which research shows helps prevent cell damage and support DNA repair, reducing cancer risks and skin ageing. However, more studies are needed to validate these findings.

By neutralising free radicals, oral sunscreens may help reduce sunburn risk and offer some protection from skin cancer.

Oral sunscreen may also offer some photoprotection benefits, such as reducing UV-induced DNA damage in skin cells.
