Kanye West, who legally changed his name to Ye last year, stirred controversy after wearing a pointed black hood resembling those worn by the Ku Klux Klan.
What is the Ku Klux Klan?
Ku Klux Klan, or KKK, is called a domestic terrorist organisation, It was founded shortly after the United States Civil War ended.
KKK has used intimidation, violence, and murder to maintain white supremacy in Southern government and social life.
The first two words of the organisation's name is supposedly derived from the Greek word "kyklos", which means circle.
KKK was the catalyst for resistance to the policies aimed at establishing political and economic equality for Black Americans.
History books have noted that KKK members waged an underground campaign of intimidation and violence directed at white and Black Republican leaders.
The Congress had passed legislation designed to curb KKK "terrorism", but the organisation saw its primary goal, which was the reestablishment of white supremacy, fulfilled through Democratic victories in state legislatures across the South in the 1870s.
As per reports, the white Protestant nativist groups revived the Klan in the early 20th century after a period of decline. And some reports say that they are still active in the US.
