Jimmy Buffett’s Life In Pictures 

Jimmy Buffett is no more. The music icon passed away peacefully on September 1 at his home in Sag Harbor, New York. He was 76. 

In his career spanning over five decades, Jimmy gave his millions of fans timeless hits like “Margaritaville”, “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, and “Fins” among others. 

Jimmy Buffett, who was known for his unique style of music called ‘Gulf and Western’, recorded 30 studio albums, and sold over 20 million albums worldwide. 

In 1970, the singer released his first album, Down to Earth. But his career trajectory changed when “Margaritaville” from his album Changes in Latitudes became superhit. 

Born on December 25, 1946, in Mississippi and raised in Alabama, Buffett began his music career during his college days when he started playing guitar and later started performing on the streets and in the clubs of New Orleans, according to his website.

Apart from his career as a singer, Jimmy was a successful author and had written a bunch of acclaimed books like A Salty Piece of Land, Tales From Margaritaville, and his memoir, A Pirate Looks at Fifty. 

Jimmy Buffett aka King of Island escapism will also be remembered for his cameos in movies like Hook, Jurassic World, and Congo among others. 

The singer also had an entrepreneurial mind and built a chain of Margaritaville hotels and restaurants.  At the age of 76, Buffett became one of the world’s richest musicians, with a net worth of $1 billion.
