Taylor Swift just dropped her 11th studio album and it’s called The Tortured Poets Department. With fans calling it the most “personal album” that the crooner has ever released, here’s everything we know about it.
It’s a secret double album! After she dropped the full album, Taylor Swift released The Anthology, a 15-song companion piece to The Tortured Poets Department. So there’s lots of listening guaranteed.
Taylor Swift called the album an anthology of new works. Volume one contains 16 songs, whereas volume two has 15 songs in total. So there’s a total of 31 songs.
The albums are produced in tandem by Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner and is a mix of the 80s pop-rock sound of 1989 and her last album, Midnights.
While most of her albums have some heartbreak songs and take a dig at past, failed relationships and settles scores, The Tortured Poets Department isn’t just about settling scores with past relationships. Taylor calls it a kaleidoscope of emotions - a beautiful tapestry woven with love, pain, defiance, and vulnerability.
The album also features guest appearances from Florence + The Machine and Post Malone.
Taylor Swift dropped the album in the middle of the night at 2:00 am.
