A flower-printed saree with a delicate trail, a bow at the back of her blouse, messy hair and a stunning headpiece, Alia Bhatt looked like she came ready for her Met Gala 2024 red carpet appearance. Here’s what we know about her attire for fashion’s big night.
This year’s dress code was ‘The Garden of Time’, so Alia Bhatt reached out to Indian couturier Sabyasachi to weave magic while staying true to her Indian roots – an intricately handcrafted Sabyasachi saree, studded with real gems. The saree came with a 23-foot long train with floral detailing on the borders.
Explaining how the look came together, Sabyasachi told Vogue, "I am honoured to create the signature garment of India, a sari, handcrafted from techniques handed down over generations and mastered during a lifetime of effort for Alia. It represents the history and pride of Indian craftsmanship that I have dedicated my career to promoting, protecting and preserving.”
The stunning saree was made with the help of 163 artisans and took a staggering 1,905 man-hours.
The whole look was put together by her longtime stylist and red carpet collaborator Anaita Shroff Adajania.
It’s safe to say that Alia Bhatt looks like a garden fairy straight out of a Disney show. Her hair and makeup only complemented her ensemble. With a headpiece that accentuated her messy hair bun, Alia looked like she came to win the red carpet.
For her Met Gala debut last year, she wore a Prabal Gurung dress.
