To earn the prestigious title of Hashira, one must be unsurpassed among their peers. There are two ways to prove one’s eligibility to become a Hashira. The first strategy includes killing at least 50 demons.

The second requires killing a demon with a rank among the Twelve Demon Moons, an elite group of demons that directly serve the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji.

Muzan goes after the head of the Demon Slayers, Ubuyashiki Kagaya, interrupting Tanjiro’s training and kicking off the story’s final arc. Muzan is defeated at the end of the Infinity Castle Arc, and the Demon Slayer order disbands.

Although Tanjiro was on his path to becoming a Hashira. With Muzan gone, there was no need for the Demon Slayers Corps, hence he did not become a Hashira.
