Fans haven't seen Boruto Uzumaki on television in quite some time. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations' first half concluded in March 2023, and all eyes are now on the release of the second half.

Natalie, a Japanese publication, published an interview with Michiyuki Honma, president of Studio Pierrot, the animators behind Boruto.

"I think it's great making one project for a long period which Pierrot has done so far. At the same time, large budgets and scheduling costs involve big risks. However, I began to wonder if I could find a new way of making projects differently than in the past... With that in mind, Pierrot was involved in making a new kind of anime with Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War," Honma said.

"Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has received great praise overseas. When I went overseas for events, I was treated like a hero... There are many series on hiatus, but in the future, Pierrot is challenging itself to make a new kind of anime. Please look forward to it."

Pierrot tested the seasonal schedule with Bleach's return, and it worked perfectly. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations went on hiatus over a year ago and Honma hinted that it might start following a seasonal release schedule like anime including Demon Slayer and Bleach: TYBW do.

Last month, leaks circulating online claimed that the highly anticipated comeback of the Boruto anime had been severely delayed. According to the leaks, the Boruto anime is unlikely to return until 2027 or 2028.

Leaks also revealed that if Studio Pierrot decides against the postponement, Boruto's probable reappearance may be at the expense of inferior animation quality.
