Indian celebrities have been experimenting with Sanskrit names for their children for a couple of years now. From Anushka Sharma and Viraat Kohli’s firstborn Vamika to Aditya Dhar and Yami Gautam’s Vedavid, here are some unique Sanskrit names that celebs have named their kids and what they mean:

Vamika

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli welcomed their first child in 2021 and named her Vamika. ‘Vamika’ means an avatar of the Hindu goddess Durga in Sanskrit.

Raha

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor chose the name Raha for their cute daughter. Alia revealed that her daughter’s name in the purest form means ‘divine path’. In Sanskrit, ‘Raha’ means clan whereas in Bengali it means comfort as well as relief.

Akaay

Anushka and Virat named their second child Akaay. In Sanskrit, the word ‘Akaay’ means something that does not decay and hence is immortal.

Malti Marie

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ daughter Malti Marie borrows her name from both sets of grandmoms. ‘Malti’ in Sanskrit means jasmine, the fragrant white flower.

Vedavid

Yami and Aditya named their son Vedavid, derived from the union of Sanskrit words ‘Veda’ and ‘Vid’. The name thus means one who is well-versed in the Vedas.
