On the occasion of what would have been actress Sridevi’s 60th birthday, let’s take a look at her most memorable roles.

Jaag Utha Insan

Though it was Himmatwala that launched Sridevi into stardom in Bollywood, it was this unsuccessful film where Sridevi shone as a temple dancer wooed by a Brahmin boy (Rakesh Roshan) and a socio-economically challenged underdog (Mithun Chakraborty). Her performance won the hearts of the audience.

Sadma

Sadma marked the true coming of age of one of India’s finest actresses. As a girl, who after an accident regresses into childhood, Sridevi conveyed all the nuances of her character’s predicament brilliantly.

Nagina

No one on earth can ever forget the slithering performance of Sridevi to the tunes of Lata Mangeshkar’s evergreen song Main teri dushman, dushman tu mera in this blockbuster.

Lamhe

After Chandani, Sridevi proved her acting prowess in Yash Chopra’s bold love story Lamhe. In the movie, she played the double role of a mother and daughter with perfection and ease.

Judai

Sridevi’s performance as Kajal in Judai is her finest and most entertaining performance to date. In the film, she plays the role of a wife who sells her husband (Anil Kapoor) for money. However, eventually, she realises that money is not the key to happiness.
