Farah Khan wanted Naseeruddin Shah to play the villain. But Shah was shooting for a Hollywood film and could only allot dates for a cameo role as Shah Rukh Khan's father. Before Shetty, Farah Khan had approached Kamal Haasan and Nana Patekar but both refused. Eventually Shetty took up the role.
The first stunt Shah Rukh Khan does while walking on the wall was a secret from director Farah Khan. She didn't want him to do that stunt due to his back injury.
Farhan Akhtar was considered for the role of Lucky. Even Hrithik Roshan was approached for the role before the film went to Zayed Khan.
The film was supposed to launch Zayed Khan and Amrita Rao in Bollywood but owing to Shah Rukh Khan's back injury, the production got delayed. Rao and Khan made their debuts in other films a year before the release of Main Hoon Na.
