The world is set to witness the untold story of a Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila.

The much-anticipated movie will tell the story of iconic Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, who was shot dead at the age of 27.

Acclaimed director Imtiaz Ali's next biographical movie stars Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra.

Born as Dhanni Ram on July 21, 1960,  in the village of Dugri near Ludhiana, Punjab, India, the late singer was known as the ''Elvis of Punjab''.

Chamkila's best-known hits include ‘Pehle Lalkare Naal’, ‘Talwar Main Kalgidhar Di’, ‘Jija Lak Minle’ and ‘Hikk Utte So Ja Ve’ among others.

Amar Singh Chamkila's songs were widely loved, but the lyrics of his songs courted a lot of controversy.

On March 8th, 1988, Chamkila's life took a tragic turn when he stepped out of his car in Mehsampur, Punjab.
