Sonakshi Sinha is not the only bride to have ditched the traditional red bridal lehenga and opted for a priceless white chikankari saree for her wedding day. Here are a few other B-Town Divas who chose hues of white for their wedding day:
Alia ditched a traditional red lehenga to wear a Sabyasachi hand-dyed ivory organza saree embroidered with fine tilla work. 'The fourteenth of April 2022,' their wedding date, was woven on the tissue fabric of her veil. Her blouse had intricate butterfly embroidery that resonated with her bubbly personality.
Parineeti looked breathtaking in her traditional, heavily embellished ivory lehenga designed by Manish Malhotra. She was carrying a double dupatta, with one acting as her veil and adorned with Raghav’s name embroidered on it in hindi. The tone-on-tone geometrical artwork on the lehenga was crafted over 2,500 hours.
Back in 2018, Rhea opted for a classic Anamika Khanna white saree, doused in tone-on-tone thread work that was draped over a half-sleeved blouse, and topped off with a cape in tones of ivory and gold, for her pheras. Instead of draping an additional dupatta, she made a statement by picking a vintage piece from Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas, crafted using thousands of little pearls as a veil.
Richa's attire for her big day was a sharara set that consisted of a short chikankari kurti that was lavishly decorated and embroidered, along with a matching sharara, dupatta and a separate headpiece that reached the floor.
Influencer Alanna wore a custom-made Manish Malhotra outfit in off-white. The outfit was hand-embroidered with intricate floral motifs with borders in delicate threadwork, crystals, pearls and sequins. The look was completed with a scallop-edged translucent veil and fine jewellery by Manish Malhotra.
Gauhar Khan’s beautiful ivory wedding attire was by a fashion brand, Laam and was customised for the actress by designers Shakira Usman and Saira Faisal. Her wedding joda had intricate floral zari work using matching Resham thread. The sharara had similar floral embroidery in a vertical and her dupatta had simple chikankari embroidery on the entire piece
For her D-day, TV star Rubina Dilaik ditched the traditional red and looked dreamy in an ivory lehenga paired with a multi-coloured gota patti blouse. Her lehenga too had similar work but in floral motifs. She carried the outfit with a double sheer net dupatta which had a thick floral embroidered border.
