Lily Gladstone, who won the award for the best female actor in a leading role, is of Piegan Blackfeet (Siksikaitsitapi), Nez Perce (Nimíipuu), and European heritage.
She was born and raised in a small town in Montana, where she developed a love for acting from a young age.
One of Gladstone’s first acting experiences as a child was when Missoula Children’s Theatre came to her East Glacier, Montana, hometown and cast her as an evil step-sister in Cinderella.
Gladstone gained widespread acclaim for her role in the film Certain Women (2016), where she starred alongside Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams, and Laura Dern.
Apart from her recent SAG Award win, Gladstone has received several accolades and nominations for her performances in independent films. She also won a Gotham Award for The Unknown Country in 2023.
