India beat West Indies in 1983 CWC final at Lord's on June 25. This was a historic moment in ODI cricket as the then West Indies were beaten in a WC final for the first time, after winning the earlier two editions in 1975 and 1979. With this, the craze for cricket in India grew significantly over the years.
On Mar 31 2001, Sachin Tendulkar became the first-ever to reach 10k runs in ODIs. He achieved the historic feat during India's home game versus Australia in Indore, where his 139 led the home side to a massive win. In 2010, SRT also became the first-ever to score 200 in an ODI, against South Africa in Gwalior.
Riding on Ricky Ponting's 164, Australia posted a mammoth 434/4 (first-ever 400 in men's cricket) in the five-match ODI series decider, versus South Africa in Johannesburg in March 2006. In reply, SA chased it down, scoring 438/9, courtesy of Herschelle Gibbs' whirlwind 175 and skipper Graeme Smith's 90.
During the 2007 CWC, South African opener Gibbs smacked 6-sixes in an over during his side's game versus Netherlands in Basseterre. The match was easily won by the Proteas, by 221 runs. In the same edition, SL's Lasith Malinga also became the first, to date the only bowler to take 4 wickets in 4 balls.

The 2019 CWC final was a historic match. Both England and New Zealand managed 241 apiece and the match also ended in a tie in the Super Over before England beat the Kiwis on boundary count to win their maiden title.
