1. Only team to win 20, 50 and 60 overs World Cup

India’s 2011 ODI World Cup win against Sri Lanka saw them register their name in the history books as they became the first and to date only team to win 20, 50 and 60 overs World Cup. India won the 1983 World Cup which was a 60-over format while the 2011 ODI World Cup was a 50-over format. India also won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and 2024. 

2. Most International Runs by a Batter

With more than 34,000 runs India’s Sachin Tendulkar stands tall for most run at the international level. The batter active batter on the list is India’s Virat Kohli, meaning the record is intact with the Indian players even if Virat surpasses the great. 

3. Most International Hundreds

With 100 Hundreds at international level, India’ Sachin Tendulkar’s record could hardly get broken with closet rival Virat Kohli now in his twilight and counting down his final days at international level.

4. First nation to reach finals of major ICC tournaments

In 2021 India became the first nation to reach the finals of all ICC tournaments after booked their place in the World Test Championship final. India had earlier played in the finals of the World Cup, Champions Trophy and T20 World Cup having also won the competitions. 

5. First nation to win ODI World Cup on home turf

Having won the 2011 ODI World Cup in Mumbai, India became the first nation to win the ODI World Cup on home turf. They beat Sri Lanka in the final almost repeated the trick in 2023 when they lost to Australia in the final.
