UK unveils £94 billion cost-of-living budget package.

The British government on Wednesday unveiled a £94 billion budget aimed at tackling a cost-of-living crisis which has sparked public sector strikes.

According to Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt, the budget focuses on employment, the energy sector, education, defence among other areas.

The government would remove barriers that prevent people from working. These include increasing annual allowance to £60,000 & universal support for getting disabled people into work.

The main focus here is to extend subsidy on energy bills for further three months, after the invasion of Ukraine by oil and gas producer Russia sent them surging.

The government has introduced free childcare for children aged 3 and 4. It has increased hourly rates for nursery providers.

The government is investing extra £5 billion in defence, national security over next two years. It will provide additional £33 million to support veterans.
