Some desert animals have evolved remarkable adaptations to thrive in extreme environments, surviving with little to no water for long periods. Here are five such creatures:

Beetle

By collecting moisture on their bodies from the fog, beetles can live in one of the driest places on the planet.

Camel

Camels can go for extended periods without drinking water as they can store fat in their humps, which can be metabolised into water.

Jerboa

This rodent extracts all moisture from its food, needing no water.

Meerkat

Meerkats get hydration from insects and roots they consume.

Scorpion

Scorpions can survive for months without water. They have a low metabolic rate and obtain moisture from their prey.
