Civilian killed in clashes with Indian security forces in Kashmir

A civilian was killed by security forces' firing pellets amid clashes with protesters in south Kashmir's Pulwama district in the Kakapora area Thursday, Greater Kashmir reports.

An official said the man who died, Touseef Ahmad Wani from the district's Tengpuna village, sustained multiple pellet injuries.

He was brought to the hospital, but was declared dead by the time he arrived.

Different reports about the preceding events

The Greater Kashmir referenced above reports that youth had taken to the streets after three militants were killed earlier in a gunfight.

The Kashmir Reader reports that the youth were attending the funeral of the militants killed earlier. They also say two militants died, not three.

Meanwhile, NDTV also reports that it was three Laskhkar-e-Taiba terrorists killed and one Army officer injured in what was a six-hour encounter.
