US Presidential Debate LIVE: Joe Biden and Donald Trump are squaring off Thursday (Jun 27) in a crucial US presidential debate. The stakes are high for both candidates as they battle to woo voters and gain an advantage in their tight race for the White House. The debate, hosted by CNN, began at 9:00 pm (0100 GMT Friday or 6:30 AM, Indian Standard Time.
Biden appears to be struggling with his delivery but Trump is belligerent and is being fact-checked by the moderators. Trump is constantly bringing back the issue of illegal immigration to the conversation while sticking his neck out on what he claims are Biden administration's geopolitical setbacks in Ukraine and Gaza.
There is no studio audience and according to the rules, microphones are being cut out when a candidate's speaking time is over. The candidates are appearing at a uniform podium. The duo have a pen, paper and bottle of water. They can neither use props nor the notes.

Trump campaign releases two ads
Trump's campaign released two 30-second ads just a few hours ahead of the debate with Biden.
The first ad is labelled as "Who's Laughing Now". It contains images of various gaffes of Biden, including stumbling on the stairs of Air Force One, falling over while clipped into his bike and appearing lost on stage.
The second ad is titled "Promises". It consists of headlines about inflation, the situation at the southern border and withdrawal from Afghanistan. It asks voters whether or not they are better off financially since Biden took office. It also contains questions if the country is more secure.
