Tim Walz, a 60-year-old veteran of the US Army National Guard and former teacher, has been picked as running mate by US Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the presidential elections. As governor, Walz has promoted a progressive agenda, which features free school meals, climate change goals, tax cuts for the middle class, and extended paid leave for workers in Minnesota. In other news, Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah launched a major drone attack on two Israeli military targets on Tuesday. Local media reports said at least 19 people were injured in the attack. Also, Bangladesh parliament was dissolved today a day after now-former prime minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country after resigning.
