Heavy snow pummels southern Germany, posing avalanche risk

Continuous heavy snowfall has caused traffic chaos, closed schools and posed a high risk of avalanches in many southern areas of Germany on Thursday. Streets, cars and trees were coated in thick snow as the flakes continued to fall in southern German states. The severe weather condition has forced authorities to dispatch more winter service vehicles to clear snow, a task that lately has also become daily labour for local residents.
