On Sunday (June 9), a 14-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital as he met with an accident while subway surfing in Queens, New York.
The young boy was riding on top of a southbound 7 train when his head banged against a beam at around 4:30 pm. This thrill-seeking adventure landed the teen in some serious trouble.

According to reports, incidents of teenagers surfing on top of trains have increased. Such deviant behaviour draws from the trends that went viral on various social media platforms.
The 14-year-old teenager was taken to the Elmhurst Hospital immediately and is in a stable condition now, officials reported. Such fatal accidents shed light on the negative impact that blindly following social media trends can have.
What is Subway Surfing?
Subway surfing involves riding outside or on top of trains. This phenomenon originated in New York back in the 19th century when people could not get in trains due to it being overcrowded or they couldn't afford it.

This emerged as a TikTok trend in 2022 where young kids got influenced and started subway surfing, resulting in serious injuries. This trend is a real-life simulation of the game, Subway Surfers where characters run alongside trains and on top of them.

Youngsters must understand the stakes of participating in this extremely dangerous trend. Additionally, subway surfing is illegal in most parts of the world for this very reason.
