Priyanka Chopra Jonas is an Indian actress-singer who has worked in numerous Bollywood blockbusters including 'Don', 'Fashion', 'Aitraaz' and 'Dostana'. She gained prominence in America due to her TV series 'Quantico'.
Priyanka Chopra Early Life
Priyanka was born to Dr Ashok Chopra and Dr Madhu Chopra on July 18 1982 in Jamshedpur, India. Her parents were both physicians in the Indian army. She has a younger brother Siddharth who is seven years younger than her. Her cousins Parineeti Chopra, Meera Chopra and Mannara Chopra are also actresses in the Indian film industry.
Priyanka Chopra Modeling and Acting Career
Priyanka was the first runner up in the Miss India Pagent in the year 2000. She subsequently won Miss World crown in the same year. Chopra was the fifth Indian contestant to win Miss World, and the fourth to do so within seven years. She had enrolled in college but left after winning the Miss World pageant. Soon after winning the crown, Priyanka Chopra started getting film offers.
Priyanka Chopra Bollywood Debut and Later Years
Priyanka made her debut in 2002 in Tamil film 'Thamizhan' as the love interest of the protagonist, played by Vijay. The actress made her Bollywood debut in 2003 in Anil Sharma's 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy'. The film also featured Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. Priyanka Chopra subsequently went on to feature in several blockbuster films and gave memorable performances in films like 'Don', 'Fashion', 'Barfi!', '7 Khoon Maaf' and 'Bajirao Mastani'.
Priyanka Chopra Awards
Priyanka has won a National Film Award for Best Actress for 'Fashion' (2008) and five Filmfare Awards. She has also won two People's Choice Awards: 'Favourite Actress In A New TV Series', and 'Favorite Dramatic TV Actress' for 'Quantico'. She is the first South Asian actress to win a People's Choice Award. She was also honoured with Padma Shri in 2016- the fourth highest civilian award, by the Government of India for her contribution to arts.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas Personal life
Priyanka Chopra married American musician Nick Jonas in December 2018. The couple first met at Met Gala in 2017 and officially started dating in early 2018. The couple had two wedding ceremonies - Hindu and Christian- keeping in mind their individual faith. The couple's wedding took place at the majestic Umaid Bhavan in Udaipur. They later hosted a reception in Delhi and Mumbai.
